Jammu, December 22 (KNO) : Bakshi Nagar SHO Naresh Sharma, Journalist Dev Thakur of Jammu Parivartan among dozen police personnel were injured during Jammu Development Authority''s anti Encroachment drive at Niki Tawi near Fourth Bridge, Bhagatwati Nagar Jammu when Gujjar families pelted heavy stones on JDA anti demolishing team and police personnel deployed during the drive. Reports reaching KNO that, around 6 am morning today, the JDA Anti demolishing team along with heavy contingent of police and CRPF personnel reached the Fourth Bridge to demolish the illegal houses constructed by Gujjar and local families there for the last many years. As soon as the anti demolishing arrived at the spot along with JCB Machines and other related vehicles, the Gujjar and local youth came out from their Houses and started stone pelting on police in which SHO Bakshi Nagar, Journalist working for Jammu Parivartan and around dozen police personnel were injured. After seeing heavy stone pelting from Gujjar families, JDA has called off the Anti demolishing drive and failed to retrieve the state government land from the clutches of Gujjar families who had constructed their illegal houses in the area for the last many years. Later, SHO Bakshi Nagar Naresh Sharma whose right hand has got fractured during the stone pelting incident was admitted in the hospital for treatment.(KNO)
